Radio is proven to be one of the most popular mediums in the U.A.E. with 78 percent of population, aged 15 and over, claiming to listen to radio daily. Radio stations belonging to the Arabian Radio Network (ARN) dominate the most-listened to broadcasts. Music stations such as Virgin Radio, Dubai 92, City 101.6, Al-Arabiya 99.0 are the most popular listening choices. English-language channel Dubai Eye 103.8 is the country’s most listened-to station for news and talk shows. Recently Shock have entered the market with Heart FM and Dance FM, which are becoming increasingly popular.

It is found that the U.A.E. has one of the highest rates of TV viewership in the world, with 86 per cent of the population claiming to watch TV at least once a day. Seven channels from the Saudi-owned MBC networks are among the most-viewed channels in the U.A.E. The Hindi-language channels such as Zee TV and Sony TV, also prove highly popular.

The U.A.E’s love for digital media consumption is reflected in the large-scale adoption of digital technologies by the country. The total number of active internet and social media users were recorded to be 99% of the total population, with 61% of the population more frequently access digital media through their smartphones.
